If only I had known this 10 years ago …….
It’s a phrase we often hear from delegates on our Quadrant 1 programmes, people who are successful but suddenly realise that a way of thinking, avoidance of certain tasks or inability to get on with someone important has been holding them back. Their new learning had nothing to do with experience. All these people already had valuable experience in their chosen field. What we enabled them to do was to improve 3 basic relationships – the relationship with other people, the relationship with their work and most importantly the relationship with themselves.
A few examples of recent success
- A managing director who increased productivity by 15% in one year
- A salesman who turned a client wishing to cancel a contract into a renewal and substantial additional business
- An organisation driving positive change through the creation of a force for good
- A Regional Director who over awed his colleagues and galvanised them into action with his dynamic presentation
- A chief executive who developed a new vision for his team enabling them to turn the organisation around
- A Regional Director who recognised the value of relationships in managing his remote team.
The tool kit these people used to achieve their successes, both at an organisational and personal level, came from Neuro-Linguistic Programming. What’s even more interesting is that they all attended the same training programme. In order to succeed these people worked on their creativity, confidence levels, decision-making processes, influencing skills and their ability to empower and engage people. They enjoyed the process of expanding their thinking, increasing their self-esteem and learning to take more and more calculated risks.
Organisations are only as good as the people within them. Technical skills are no longer enough. Organisations are looking for skilled people to take on responsibility, be creative, engage and empower teams. NLP helps people to become proactive, energetic achievers – the type of people who take organisations forward. You will find these people in organisations having a clear view of what needs to be done, developing people to a level of excellence in both practical skills and relationship skills, running concise, effective meetings, engaging and exciting people through dynamic presentations and encouraging progress and change.
Q1 Business Practitioner Programme
We often hear people say ‘I’ve done NLP but I don’t know how to use it. It’s clear to us that these people have learnt NLP at an academic level, they have a theoretical knowledge of how it works but haven’t really experienced the real change that NLP can bring.
Learning NLP requires one to one contact with skilled facilitators to help you learn through real experience on real issues. Knowing what the techniques are is only the beginning. Could you learn to hit a ball by reading a book ? attending a seminar ? or e-learning ? No, well that’s the same principal. Until you have experienced the feeling of ball against club/ bat / racquet, and seen it moving off in the direction you intended, how could you explain it to someone else?
The next stage is how do I use it in my workplace? Knowledge without application is very noble but in today’s business world everything has to have a purpose and make a contribution in excess of the investment required. Put simply, curing your marketing managers fear of spiders might be useful to him but not necessarily what you were looking for. Learning leading edge influencing and rapport building skills though has immediate benefits. The ability to use advanced communication models to engage and inspire teams would create significant payback. Awareness of emotional and behavioural patterns in yourself and others and how to use those to drive the behaviour you want and motivate those around you. What business could not use these to their advantage? Which individuals would benefit most?
